Networking meeting “Science for Democracy”

In February 2024, we joined forces for the “Science for Democracy” initiative. Every signature for the open letter, which clearly spoke out against anti-democratic and anti-science policies, was important.

We got away with it once again. Herbert Kickl did not become chancellor and the FPÖ cannot turn its attacks on critical science into government action. But a look at current election polls in Austria or the USA shows that we cannot rest on our laurels. It is part of the right-wing authoritarian agenda to attack science, universities, colleges and research institutions and to fundamentally question research funding.
We must now work on strategies to make the (Austrian) scientific landscape resilient, how universities and colleges can be democratized and how they can contribute to democracy in general.

What is particularly important here is further and also personal networking, a joint exchange from the perspectives of our various disciplines and political positions as well as strategic planning for the next activities.

We therefore cordially invite you to a first personal networking meeting and workshop.
